#ClimateUrgency

For me it's bigger than my desperate attempts to track the difference between healthy and hazardous smoke though I need to do that in order to maintain. It's not only about climate change; it's about transforming our society to address the need for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  I have some comments and links below which Twitter readers (@odaraia) will find familiar. The news media keeps showing satellite pictures of hurricanes and dramatic photos of #WestCoastFires but they don't show satellite pictures of the smoke all over the west coast (link below).

I'm linking to my poster showing the 5 year plan to transition from fossil fuels to solar/geo based energy sources. Forget it! We've been going on in the opposite direction, and it's clear, if smokey,  that there's not enough being imagined to remedy this.

Here are some ways to find out what other people are talking about. #WestCoastFires #ClimateFires #ClimateCrisis #ClimateActionNow

Here is one approach, probably the most sensible regarding forest management, https://twitter.com/democracynow/status/1305853091925823490?s=20

Fire fighting equipment is abroad to fight imperialist wars. Oregon’s helicopters are in Afghanistan during fire season.

Joe Biden's speech this morning mentioned the climate crisis existential challenge. Glad he's using this language, but I sure hope you mean #GreenNewDeal Joe. FYI, it’s not a radical plan. Grounding airplanes and suppressing concrete construction are. Replacing internal combustion engines is radical. Replace fossil fuel power plants. We cannot keep up repairing climate destroying infrastructure.

Hilary Franz, WA state comissioner of public lands (I voted for her) says we can't depend on the weather to save us. Yes! I’d like to know why we are still flying planes. At all. They use too much fossil fuel. It’s better to invest in rigid air ships (dirigibles) to handle water drops to fight fires and transport people and goods.

@NWSSeattle is a good source of information as is https://wasmoke.blogspot.com/2020/09/atmosphere-is-not-delivering-what-we.html

Mike McGinn (former mayor of Seattle and Green activist) asked if any WA state legislators would commit to a moratorium or defunding highway expansion and reinvestment in climate friendly transportation, or any other green new deal goal. Who would defund highway expansion to fund GND and wildfire prevention?

This is the kind of image I would expect national US media, @nytimes  @cnn to show the extent and intensity of #WestCoastFires #ClimateFires smoke especially with map coverage of hurricane conditions. It’s not just about burned out cars. Everyone here is hurting.
