Sandow Birk in Seattle at Prographica Gallery
There is a terrific exhibition up until Saturday 2.24 at Prographica Gallery in Pioneer Square (same doors as Davidson Gallery on Occidental.
Sandow Birk is a Los Angeles artist who works large and small using art historical drawing and printmaking techniques to comment and explore social issues and contemporary life. This exhibition includes hand-transcribed and illuminated mansuscript pages from his American Qu'ran project, Imaginary Monuments including many abstracted landscape representations of political concepts, American Procession monumental woodblock prints, and a brilliant new lithographic series based on Rabelais, The Horrible and Terrible Deeds and Words of the Very Renouned Trumpagruel. Using these techniques offers authority and perspective to the content. Here's a link

Very satisfying work inspired by visual artists contemporary to our composers.
