A vibrant and shifting approach to recent art history, the subtitle of MashUp is The Birth of Modern Culture. While it can be argued that art cultures previous to the 20th C showed disparate collecting tendencies and assembling/arranging of tableau to represent distinct times, this brilliant arrangement of works and curatorial ideas takes the boredom out of the two-dimensionality of most art history texts. It's synergistic, inspired, and elucidates the language of visual cultures for contemporary viewers.
